Description of the role:

Harrogate and District Scouts Secretary, the role will mainly involve collating documents for the committee meetings and distributing by email to the committee members. In addition there will be minute taking at our Executive Meetings (6 per year + Annual General Meeting). Other responsibilities may include general correspondence and circulation of information to the Scout Groups within the district.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

Ability to take minutes and transcribe into a word document. Candidate needs to have their own computer.

Practical information:

6 Executive evening meetings per year (approx 2.5 hours per each meeting) and one Annual General Meeting (approx 2.5 hours). In addition up to a couple of hours per week at home to handle correspondence and miscellaneous communication with the District Commissioners and Committee members.

Organisation Information

Harrogate Scouts has Beaver Colonies and Cub Packs which welcome boys and girls between 6 and 10. Scout Troops and Explorer Units welcome boys and girls between 10 and 18 years. 18 - 25 year olds are Network Scouts. We abide by the rules of the Association. Our aim is to develop members socially, physically, spiritually and intellectually. We cater for able-bodied people and people with disabilities. Our District membership is made up of 14 groups mainly centered around Harrogate and Knaresborough. We have a District Campsite at Thornthwaite in Nidderdale with an excellent range of facilities including an activity centre sleeping 40.
