DIY Volunteers

DIY Volunteers
Ripon YMCA
Description of the role:

Ripon YMCA is a vital independent charity supporting local young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We help them develop independence and move on with their lives. We are setting up a new volunteer group to help with various DIY, repair and decorating jobs around the YMCA. We aim to provide our tenants with good quality accommodation. Our funds are limited so the more of this type of work we can do ourselves the more we can invest in support.

We hope to meet the first Thursday of the month initially 10.00 am to 3.00 pm with a break for lunch at a local café.

Skills and qualities needed for the role:

No particular skills needed. Just the ability to muck in and help with various tasks. An understanding of the work we do and the needs of our tenants is important but this will be explained.
If you do have specific skills in building maintenance that would be a bonus.

Practical information:

Once we have a number of volunteers expressing an interest we will meet to discuss practicalities. A DBS check will be needed but we will arrange this.
