Roles for Young People

Roles for Young People

Looking for volunteering experience to gain new skills, meet new people or maybe for your D of E Award?

...you've come to the right place!

Different organisations have different volunteer policies and some may not be able to accept volunteers who are under the age of 18. This may be due to issues such as insurance or safeguarding of vulnerable individuals. We have compiled a listing of local volunteering opportunities for students and young people.

What Next?

If you find an opportunity which is of interest to you contact the organisation directly for more information (full contact details are provided for each opportunity). Please remember that many charities only have part time staff so give the organisation at least a week to respond to your enquiry.

If for any reason you have contacted an organisation and you haven't heard back please get in touch with us via our Contact Form

Would you like to discuss your needs and your options with someone?

The new Youth Volunteering Project at North Yorkshire Youth (NYY) supports young people aged 14 – 25 years to find and set up a suitable placement, matching your interests and availability. A Volunteer Co-ordinator will then offer you support throughout your volunteer placement.

It is a simple process to sign up for this support:

First you complete a form giving your interests, previous experience and what time you can offer.

Then your Volunteer Co-ordinator will meet with you to look at what is available in your area or if you have something specific in mind.

If you can’t find an existing opportunity, your Volunteer Co-ordinator will then contact organisations on your behalf.

The role of the Volunteer Co-ordinator is to make sure that everything is in place so you can enjoy a safe, positive and productive placement and she will be happy to discuss your needs any time
